Day to Day Responsibilities:
The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to develop producible opto-mechanical designs and documentation to
meet the overall system design performance and requirements flow down. The Mechanical Engineer
develops the mechanical concept and detailed design solid models and supervises or generates the
production drawings and documentation. The Mechanical Engineer will also perform tolerance analysis. The
Mechanical Engineer may also support the development of test and manufacturing tooling and fixture,
prototypes, and verification testing. The Mechanical Engineer may also be involved with the generation and
maintenance of department procedures and supporting proposals and quotes.
Travel Requirement:
Less than 25%. Mostly US customer and supplier travel in support of projects.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
1. Hands-on mechanical design engineering and development. Opto-Mechanical experience preferred.
2. ASME Y14.5M 1994 Geometric and Dimensional Tolerancing
3. Systems Tolerancing
4. Proficient with SolidWorks design software.
Desired Skills:
1. Opto-mechanics – EO sensors, spectroscopy and optics mounting and assembly
2. Precision mechanism experience
3. Optical system tolerances as applied to opto-mechanical design
4. Optical metrology – optical test including setup and fixture design, and interferometry.
5. Experienced designing to meet tactical environmental requirements such as temperature, vibration, and
shock.
6. Heat treatment and finishing of various optical and structural materials.
7. DFM and manufacturing processes
8. Additional Software – MS Office applications and MS Project.

Education and Experience:
Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and >5 years
experience
