Position Description (other duties may be assigned):
Under direction of the Physical Design Manager and/or assigned project manager the Design Drafter drafts
detailed drawings of product top level assemblies, sub-assemblies, and/or piece parts from sketch or
general design drawings, samples or instructions by performing the following duties:
• Creation/completion of highly accurate drawings utilizing knowledge of moderately complex
electromechanical assemblies, engineering & drafting practices & standards, mathematics, materials, and
other physical sciences.
• The depiction of assemblies, and/or piece parts, material to be used (Bills of Materials), and other
information necessary to make detailed/assembly drawings clear, complete, and accurate.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, marketing and purchasing to gather and verify correct
materials, assembly instructions and techniques.
• Adhere to release schedules outlined by the physical design manager is critical.
• Complete finished drawings from which parts can be fabricated correctly the first time. Make
adjustments or changes as necessary to new and/or existing designs.
Position Requirements:
• Appropriate/relevant college or university program certificate beyond high school (Associates Degree in
drafting or equivalent discipline is highly preferred); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of two years drafting experience using Inventor (highly preferred), SolidWorks and/or
AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of database software, 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks is required), Internet software,
spreadsheet software and word processing software.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
